Custom Domains

Use go.yourbrand.com/link instead of hikrl.ink/link. Available on Pro+ plans.

How to connect a custom domain

  1. In your dashboard, go to Domains → Add Domain.
  2. Enter your domain (e.g. go.yourbrand.com) and click Continue.
  3. HikrLink will show you a CNAME record to add at your DNS provider (GoDaddy, Cloudflare, Namecheap, etc.).
  4. Add the CNAME record in your DNS provider's control panel.
  5. Return to HikrLink and click Verify.
  6. Once verified, set it as your default domain — all new links will use it automatically.

DNS propagation typically takes 15 minutes to 24 hours. If verification fails immediately, wait 30 minutes and try again.

Tip: Use a subdomain like go.yourbrand.com or links.yourbrand.com rather than your root domain. This avoids conflicts with email delivery and is supported by all DNS providers.

What DNS record type do I need?

A CNAME record. The exact target value is shown in your dashboard when you add the domain.

Can I use a root domain (yourbrand.com) instead of a subdomain?

Using a subdomain (e.g. go.yourbrand.com) is strongly recommended. Root domain CNAME records are not supported by all DNS providers and can cause issues with your email delivery. A subdomain avoids these conflicts entirely.

What happens to my links if I remove a custom domain?

Existing links on that domain will stop working immediately. Before removing a domain, reassign or delete its links first.

Does a custom domain affect click tracking?

No. Tracking works identically regardless of whether you use hikrl.ink or your own domain.
